Class Outline

Ballet classes at Kspace are designed to capture the youngest children’s sense of fun and experimentation, and draw out their natural love for _expression and frivolity. These interactive sessions teach children about the art and discipline of dance, whilst improving their balance and spatial awareness. While this level calls for creative dance and music and movement, it can also be a chance for children to explore the world of ballet by getting to know their bodies and how they can move.

Classes are split by age/ability;
  • Our youngest twinkle-toes are given opportunity to let off steam, ‘feel’like a ballerina, and enjoy plenty of hoppy, skippy, light movements
  • The classes for children of three yrs and above are based around free movement and creative play, with activities to aid balance and coordination
  • Older children will begin a ‘pre-ballet’ and Ballet One syllabus; a programme created based on the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and the very best in Kspace ballet and dance curriculum.
  • Come and Join In!

    Classroom work and practice are an important part of dance, and so is presentation. Our teacher Katie looks forward to inviting eager parents into the classroom from time to time to observe progress. The children love an opportunity to perform in front of an audience and you will enjoy their mini-performances!

    Teacher’s Profile

    Our teacher, Katie, has been dancing since the age of three - when her mother placed her in a music and movement class to ‘channel her energies’. Over the years, she fell in love with ballet: eventually leaving home at the age of twelve to pursue professional ballet training at 'The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School,' followed by 'Les Grands Ballets Canadiens' in Montreal. Katie suffered a severe knee injury at the age of 16, which effectively ended her dream of becoming a professional ballerina. However, her love for, and involvement in dance did not end there. A few years later, she moved to Shanghai、China, where she opened a ballet school, teaching children 2-12 years old.

    Katie was an instant star at Kspace and has already built up a firm following of fans and protégés. She looks forward to meeting you and sharing her passion for dance with you child.
