Fee* - ¥50,000 for 5 full days
All children like to sing! Whether it’s out loud, in public, quietly in the bath or with a hairbrush pretending to be a microphone!
Singing is great for us. Actually the benefits of having a good sing-song are very well researched and you could describe it as a lovely workout for your body, soul and overall well being. For our children it increases their confidence massively and they love being involved in productions. Kspace has based a large part of our curriculum on song, dance and performance arts over the years and we have put together a full week of activities, with a show at the end, that will bring out the happy superstar in your child!
Content
Our Singing Workshop will be led by Adrian Chang (Head of Lower School)、working alongside Melissa Batherwick . Both of these teachers are seasoned performers with excellent voices and a real gift for making the children feel at home. The children will work together but will be organized by age group for some activity.
The group will be working through our Kspace special production of Jack and the Beanstalk. As well as a treasure chest of wonderful songs the children will learn dance steps and lines, cover basic set design, costumes and stage make-up. The children will learn how to harmonize and work as a group, as well having the opportunity to sing on their own (if they wish).
Photos will be taken throughout the course and appear in our Summer School blog. The week will culminate in a wonderful show, presented especially for our parents.
The course will run for a full 5 days, from Monday to Friday, and we ask that children attend daily if possible. Additional Summer School classes available post workshop, until 5.00pm. Early rises can come along to the school from 8.00am (Breakfast Club)
This will be a week that your children remember forever!
Places are limited for this workshop so please book your place as soon as possible!
Benefits of Singing
Musical medicine
Professor Graham Welch, Chair of Music Education at the Institute of Education, University of London, who has studied developmental and medical aspects of singing for 30 years says, “The health benefits of singing are both physical and psychological. Singing has physical benefits because it is an aerobic activity that increases oxygenation in the blood stream and exercises major muscle groups in the upper body, even when sitting. Singing has psychological benefits because of its normally positive effect in reducing stress levels through the action of the endocrine system which is linked to our sense of emotional well-being. Psychological benefits are also evident when people sing together as well as alone because of the increased sense of community, belonging and shared endeavour.”
