Taking Care at the Top

Thank you so much for taking time to visit us online. I hope very much that my team and I get the opportunity to make you feel welcome and at home at our lovely little school.

When I was a first pregnant, faced with giving birth and parenting in a country not my own, I felt overwhelmed by the task ahead. Bringing up my son in Tokyo was an exciting challenge yet I was vulnerable and at times very out of touch.

I began researching fun, educational activities for mummies and babies and I was astonished by the stunted range of good facilities available. In a huge city like Tokyo it seemed that places to relax, chat to other internationally minded mothers and be 'human' were few! I decided to draw on my teaching background (plus Honours degree in Psychology, Certificate and Diplomas in Baby Massage and Soft Gymnastics) and develop a truly dynamic project. With an enormous amount of input from education experts, and after drawing inspiration from wonderful projects all over the world - Kspace was formed!

This was nearly a decade ago, and I continue to plough a great deal of time into the development of unique and special classes for the children and their parents. The school has gone from strength to strength and as it has matured so have the original team: many of whom now have children of their own.

Kspace is rather like elements from a child's dream ― a world where their ideas come to life. Many families have joined us when their children were babies and we have spent many wonderful years with them until the children go to elementary school. The team and I recognize the amount of trust placed in us and we are in a very privileged position. With this in mind, we create the most perfect environment possible. We offer consistency and long term care: children can join from newborn to 8 years old and we continue to enjoying growing with them.

I am a driven character and feel passionately about what we do! I have a great deal of pride in the achievements of the children, the team and the school. With the widest range of classes available in Tokyo there's certainly never a dull moment! I am now raising my two lovely children (Benjamin and Cordelia) with an open, multi-cultural outlook on life and enjoy bringing new influences to the school.

Juliet

Responsibilities; General overseer of all areas within the school, Parent Communication and Personnel

This is David P’s fourth term in a management role (and 4th year with us) and his first as Headmaster. A wonderful father, highly experienced teacher and generally lovely guy, David has won the admiration and respect of all of his staff and the school’s families, and will continue to guide Kspace in the right direction.

David brings to this position an extremely down to earth and practical approach, and the sense of humour that is often needed when juggling many tasks! David P can be contacted on;
Email: headmasterpallash@kspace.to

Responsibilities; General overseer of the curriculum, Personnel, Training and Recruitment.

April has been with us for 4 years, and has stayed with us even though she has had another son since joining. April has worked solidly to ensure that our Upper School has developed for maximum benefit of the children, and she is also one of our most experienced teachers.

Although she continues to closely monitor the progress of the Bugs group, she takes over a new role at the school, which will include a great deal of focus on personnel, assessments and training, as well as curriculum development and student/class observation.

April is a soft and gentle person with the children’s best interests at the very fore of her mind. She is also an excellent motivator, whose’ ability to develop teachers’ skills make her the perfect person for this position. Alongside David, she will support the team and ensure that planning and curriculum growth can be carried out effectively.

With over eight years at Kspace Gigi can certainly be considered the corner stone of the Tspace Team! She is the one that staff often turns to for guidance and they know they can always turn to her when help is needed. In my absence she has been in charge of the entire operation and also handles many things behind the scenes at Kspace.

Formally trained at St. Louis University, Philippines, Gigi furthered her education as a Medical Technologist. Has nursed at a Paediatric Health Centre for infants and under fives, many of which were waiting critical hospital procedures where she developed a keen ability to pacify children and assure both babies and mothers they are in safe and loving hands. Gigi holds certificates in first aid and led a 5 week First Aid Workshop, whilst in Japan under the auspices of the “Mission for World Needs International” at Toritsu University.

Gigi is extremely confident and a well-loved personality throughout the school. She has worked with Kspace from the onset giving 100% of her skills and dedication. She has a deep love for all children and they in turn all adore her. A keen eye she notices every new word, any request and takes a personal interest in the care of our mothers and babies. Gigi is a whiz in the accounts department and has amazing talent with figures and administration.

Gigi is proud mother to two lovely sons and is surrogate mother to many!
