We know that Butterfly parents are looking to the future and thinking about kindergarten and even elementary schools. We want to prepare your children so that they can join any school (be that International or other, here or abroad) in the confidence that they have received far more than simply a sound and basic education.

Our programme is wonderful! We concentrate heavily on unusual programme elements that your child may never have the opportunity to participate in anywhere else ñ as well as this the pre-literacy programme we use is recognised as one of the best in the world!

Three choices of programme:
-5 days, Monday-Friday, full programme
-3 days (Monday/Wednesday/Friday pattern)
-2 days (Tuesday/Thursday pattern)

Lunch
Butterfly children can bring packed lunch or enjoy our Lunch Scheme. Kiwi Kitchen lunches are meticulously prepared, with attention to dietary needs, allergies, balance and presentation ñ oh, and theyíre delicious too! Advance planning (and many meetings with our lunch committee) has led to a vast and well loved menu of nutritional foods-ever changing and extremely successful with the children. Vegan and vegetarian meals can be ordered at no extra charge.


Teachers
At Kspace we choose all of our teachers carefully. Teachers for Butterfly are infamous amongst our "crew"! With a great balance of the wild and whacky, organised and structured, and the artistically inclined ñ we give our children a teacher team that they will never forget!
An important feature of our Butterfly and Big Bug programmes is that the children receive a HUGE amount of personal attention. Main lessons daily are taken by their Key Workers yet children are also divided off into ëfocus groupsí for phonics studies, mathematics and Japanese ñ when they enjoy small group work with other teachers too.

Ratios
Teacher: child ratio of 1:5

Butterflies also interact with teachers who visit them specially to teach mathematics and Japanese. Specialist teachers join for extension programmes (optional, from 2.00pm to 3.00pm), including ballet and karate. 

Butterfly Curriculum
We donít boast when we say that our Butterflies enjoy one of the best programmes in the world ñ we believe it to be true! With an extremely wide variety of classes, plenty of time for reiteration and repetition, our children thrive in our environment.  

We offer some amazing tools to fire the childrenís "brain power" and tackle the more challenging segments of the programme. Once the children have studied, the day then leads beautifully into time spent creating, or enjoying physical activities.

Children study memorable monthly themes and all subject matter is delivered with verve, against a backdrop that inspires the children to participate and add their own special touches.
Some modules covered for this age group may be considered rather ëadventurousí, and have become one of the reasons that Kspace has earned a glowing reputation as an education leader for this age group. We have achieved excellent results by following these programmes and we are proud of the diversity of the subjects that we offer at the school.

Our curriculum includes:
Communication and Language & Literacy
Butterflies undergo a period of study that takes them through the alphabet, pre-reading skills and effective vocalization. We study phonics and the whole-word method, and use a teaching programme (synthetic phonics/Jolly phonics) that has been hailed as ëbest practiceí. Our method of delivery and programme has been designed specifically for Tspace, by leading educational psychologists and assessors. All work is fun and interactive!

Numeracy
Challenging traditional perceptions of mathematics; our programme works on childrenís natural intuition and sense of curiosity. Through sorting games, classifying activities, patterning and exploring shape and space, children will be given a vocabulary to help them develop skills in problem solving and understanding basic phenomenon.

Early Science
Lots of fun experiments geared towards inspiring children to look closely at the world around them and the processes that make things tick.

Japanese Classes
A taste of culture as well as language: Classes take place daily, for half an hour, and are taught by our head of Japanese Studies. The tutor provides children with amazing activities, crazy games and inventive ways to unravel the intricacies of hiragana and daily used phrases.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
Our little ambassadors are encouraged to think deeply about their ability to affect all around them; about friendship, sharing and taking care of themselves and others. Working in small/large groups, as an individual and as head of a team, each child gets a chance to practice wearing different guises and feel how comfortable they are as their role deepens as a key member in their group. Children who feel ëdifferentí find many class situations tricky and we are well qualified when it comes to settling children and showing them just how special they are - whether they enjoy being surrounded by mates or sitting alone ñ we all need encouragement and children are the same. All children find their niche with us and are given time to do so!

Physical Development
Our soft play gym is full to the brim with ramps, tunnels, slides and domes! Children can enjoy dance based activities, aerobics, team games, outdoor play (our roof garden), and a full range of sport based modules. Gymnastics play a part in our term teaching and children also have a chance to stay on for karate and ballet classes (and many more-from 2.00pm to 3.00pm)

Kspace Special Curriculum
Creative studies Unique, diverse and simply amazing art, craft and design projects.
Creative Dance/Drama Our school provides THE perfect setting for our childrenís lively personalities; with a dance mirror; soft and safe flooring, props, a stage AND professional performance teachers.

Peer Massage
Children are grouped in pairs for the massage and administer 10 minutes of massage using simple strokes to the head, neck, shoulders and back.

Cookery and Nutrition
We want to help educate the children about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The children will be allowed to enjoy the practical side of cooking, measuring (and creating a good end result!), as well as studying the foods eaten in many other countries.
My World, My Music A Kspace special blend of music, culture and geography appreciation. Amongst our Tspace teachers are talented musicians and this lesson is extremely popular!
